After having criticized Paris for failing the UN process to settle the Western Sahara question, the Polisario Front expressed, this weekend, its «categorical» rejection of the decision of the party La République en Marche (LREM), which opened an office in Dakhla.
In a press release by its representation in France, Brahim Ghali's movement denounced a «flagrant violation of the legal status of Western Sahara, for which the UN is responsible». The Front, which affirms that France is «subject to the decisions of the European Union», recalled the decisions of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).
For the Polisario, «the fact that LREM describes Dakhla as a Moroccan province is a serious violation of the right of the Saharawi people to determine their future and their aspirations». The same source, who denounces a «violation of international law», called on Emmanuel Macron's party to «assume the responsibility and the consequences of this illegal act».
The Front's media outlets also echoed the reaction of the French Communist Party (PCF), known for its pro-Polisario positions, and which denounced the decision of the political party.
