Morocco has finally reacted to the hospitalization of Polisario leader Brahim Ghali in Spain. In a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rabat deplores «the attitude of Spain, which welcomes on its territory the so-called Brahim Ghali, leader of the separatist militias of the ‘Polisario’, wanted for serious war crimes and human rights violations».
Morocco expressed its disappointment regarding this act that does not go hand in and with the spirit of partnership and good neighborliness when it comes to this question that is important to the Moroccan people.
For the ministry, Spain's attitude arouses great incomprehension and legitimate questions: «Why was the so-called Brahim Ghali admitted to Spain on the sly and with a false passport? Why did Spain find it useful not to notify Morocco? And why the Spanish justice has not yet reacted to the many complaints lodged by the victims (against Brahim Ghali, ed)?»
The ministry’s statement comes after it summoned Spain’s ambassador to Rabat on Saturday.
