During a ceremony, chaired by the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed Mhidia, three winning projects for the restoration and rehabilitation of the Plaza Toro were awarded Thursday at the headquarters of the Wilaya of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
This project is part of a partnership agreement binding the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN), the Wilaya of the region, the Regional Council and the municipality of Tangier, with a budget of 50 million dirhams.
«The Plaza Toro is an emblematic monument of the city of Tangier which showcases heritage plurality of the city», indicated Dalila Akdim, heritage architect within the APDN. For his part, the president of the Regional Council of the Order of Architects for the Tangier area, Mokhtar Mimoun, said that this project involves the identical redevelopment of Plaza Toro, in order to preserve the historical and architectural aspects of the building.
The three winners respected these instructions and stood out for their work, he added, noting that this architectural consultation is a first step in the long collaboration that the Regional Council of the Order of Architects intends to develop with the APDN.
The architect Hicham Khattabi, member of the group also composed of Jaouad Khattabi, Younes Diouri and Karim Hadj-Nassar, winner of the competition, announced that it is an emblematic project of the city of Tangier.
