Morocco received, Friday, April 30, 500,000 additional doses of the Sinopharm vaccine, the second shipment of its kind in less than a week. The two deliveries are part of the 10 million doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine that China promised to deliver Morocco in April and May.

This new batch brings to 9.5 million the number of doses purchased by the kingdom to fight against the pandemic, from the Sinopharm and Serum Institute Of India laboratories. Morocco has also received 307,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by an Asian factory through the Covax program of the World Health Organization (WHO).

On Monday, the Ministry of Health announced its decision to extend the vaccination operation against Covid-19 to citizens aged between 55 and 60 years. Morocco launched its Covid-19 vaccination campaign on January 28, 2021. As of Friday, 5,054,642 people have received the first dose while 4,260,412 have received the second.
