Moroccan authorities have decided to extend, until June 10, the suspension of flights with 41 countries to fight against the spread of Covid-19 and potential new variants of the virus in the Kingdom. Official sources explained to the EFE agency this Friday that the countries include, among others, Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Egypt, Algeria, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Guinea, Mali, Ghana and Turkey.
The same sources specified that these measures also concern nationals and travelers from these 41 destinations who intend to reach Morocco via a third country.
To avoid the spread of the coronavirus and its new variants, Morocco has closed its airspace since January 19, EFE recalls while noting that, currently, Royal Air Maroc only operates flights to a few African countries, such as Mauritania, Senegal and Ivory Coast as well as the United States and Canada.
In addition to cargo flights, the Moroccan government authorized «special trips» to repatriate foreign nationals stranded in the Kingdom.
