«Mistakes made in the management of relations with Morocco must be corrected», said the former head of the Spanish government, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. Interviewed by Canal Sur, he stressed that «relations with Morocco are crucial», calling for «restoring confidence».

Zapatero reaffirmed that «the relationship with Morocco is essential for the stability of Spain», recalling the recent statement of the former Minister of Defense, José Bono. «Morocco is an important collaborator in the fight against jihadist terrorism. During my term in government, we also had a reasonable agreement on the migration file», he added.

The politician also reiterated his support for the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara, calling the initiative «very advanced». «With the Moroccans, we have to talk a lot», he concluded.
