The Biden administrations launches new round of consultations on Sahara

The US Deputy Assistant Secretary Joshua Harris arrived, Wednesday, in Algiers to discuss the Western Sahara issue with Algerian officials, the US State Department said.

The American official is expected to «begin a round of consultations with Algeria and Morocco on advancing regional peace an intensifying the UN political process in Western Sahara to achieve an enduring and dignified solution without further delay», reads a post published by the Near Eastern Affairs office on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In September, Joshua Harris toured the region, visiting the Tindouf camps, where he met the leader of the Polisario. Then he stopped in Algiers, where he held talks with the Algerian foreign Affairs Minister Ahmed Attaf. Lastly, Harris was received by Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita in Rabat.
