Algeria arrests 3 Moroccans for irregularly crossing maritime borders

The Algerian Ministry of Defense, under the authority of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced on Wednesday «the arrest of three Moroccan nationals for attempting to illegally cross maritime borders using a jet-ski».

The operation «took place during a surveillance and security patrol in territorial waters on the morning of Monday December 11, 2023, around 8:40 am», says the ministry in a press release, widely relayed by Algerian media.

This arrest comes almost four months after Algerian forces killed two young Moroccans while jet skiing after they accidentally strayed across the Algeria-Morocco maritime border.
