French technology company Thales has successfully installed an integrated surveillance system in the Melilla Command of the Civil Guard for intelligent border control. This installation comes following a joint venture formed by Thales and the Spanish security company Trablisa, reads a statement by the European firm.

«The new system represents a qualitative and quantitative improvement in the surveillance of Melilla's borders, which now has an integrated surveillance system», Thales announced on Wednesday.

The installation of the new integrated surveillance system took less than seven months. It includes «fixed surveillance stations to provide the Civil Guard with greater land and maritime coverage in the intelligent border control of the city of Melilla», the same source added.

The new system will provide high resolution day and night cameras and sensors. It also includes night vision cameras and a monitoring and control software that gives centralized management and a better control of sensors and actuators.
