An American man was sentenced, Monday, to six months in jail for shooting and killing Moroccan national Adil Dghoughi, Texas television station KVUE reported.

The 67-year-old Terry Turner was convicted of manslaughter in the death of the 31-year-old Moroccan that took place in October 2021. Turner will have to serve 140 days in prison immediately and then return for two more days on the anniversary of Dghoughi’s death and repeat the process on Dghoughi’s birthday, Judge Chris Schneider told KVUE.

In addition to the six-month sentence, Turner was fined $10,000, and will have to pay $3,448 in restitution. He also must complete 400 hours of community service and wear a GPS monitor for a year. The accused will be prohibited from leaving Caldwell, Idaho, and surrounding counties until his community service hours and fines are all met.

The sentencing comes after a Caldwell County jury convicted Turner of manslaughter, after he was facing 20 years in jail for murder.

He was originally charged with murder after he shot and killed Dghoughi on October 11, 2021, in Martindale, Texas. Turner said he shot Dghoughi in self-defense after he entered his driveway late at night.

While state argued whether Turner’s shouting of Dghoughi was justified in self-defense, his defense said he was protecting himself. The state «argued that Dghoughi was reasonable to reverse out of the driveway when he saw Turner coming at him with a gun», the same source added.

«We're not shocked, to be honest with you. Everything was corrupt since Day 1. He killed my brother ... with a cold-blooded execution», the brother of Dghoughi told KUVE in November following the conviction of Turner.

«My brother died, and he's going to heaven. The question is, those people who took the decision and the guy who took my brother, will they go to heaven? We'll let them live with that for the rest of their life», he said.
