Morocco : A 5.1 magnitude earthquake recorded in the Beni Mellal region

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit Tuesday, January 2, the Beni Mellal Khenifra region, in central Morocco, The national geophysics institute reported. The earthquake occurred at 8:37 am.

The institute indicated that the epicenter of this earthquake is located in the Ait M'Hamed commune, in the Azilal province.

For the record, Morocco was struck in September 2023 by 6.8 magnitude earthqauek that left 2,960 deaths and widespread damage.
