Woman holds funeral for her cat in Moroccan funeral traditions

A few days ago, the daughter of the Deputy Mayor of Salé held a funeral ceremony for her deceased cat. She received people who came to present their condolences, hosted a dinner, and hired people to recite prayers for her beloved pet, showed a video shared to social media.

«Despite the pain and sadness, I was not able to forget my cat, and I decided to organize this charity dinner in her memory», said the woman in the same video. «Oh God, please accept this charity... Oh God, have mercy on her», she prayed.

According to Al-Akhbar newspaper, sweets were distributed to neighbors, some of whom came to the cat owner’s house to offer condolences, thinking it was the funeral of a loved one, only to discover that the funeral was meant for a feline.

The funeral sparked widespread controversy on social media, and many commentators expressed their surprise at the holding of such rituals for an animal.
