After she left him, a New Jersey man has set up an elaborate plan to kidnap his ex-girlfriend and sail to Morocco, a federal complaint read.

The 36-year-old man, George Mandarakas, started stalking his ex-girlfriend after she left him for lying about his age. He then planned to kidnap her using «a stun gun and ropes before possibly setting sail to Cuba or Morocco», Law&Crime reported on Wednesday.

Mandarakas and the woman in question started dating back in 2019. Their relationship lasted for four years and ended in October 2023, when she discovered he had been lying about his age.

But instead of accepting the break-up, the man moved to Michigan, where his girlfriend lived and started stalking her, the same source added.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan charged Mandarakas with attempted kidnapping. He was found with a stun gun, rope and maps to sail from New Jersey to Morocco.
