Morocco's Justice and Development Party (PJD) held its national council meeting over the weekend, tackling internal matters and the strained relations with Algeria. Participants approved the party's political report, including sections addressing the ongoing tensions with their eastern neighbor.

Benkirane's supporters expressed strong disapproval, condemning «the gratuitous hostility and inflammatory statements by Algerian leaders» and urging Moroccans not to be discouraged from reaching out to their Algerian counterparts.

The PJD itself denounced «aggressive postures» while voicing strong support for King Mohammed VI's «wise policy towards Algeria». Emphasizing the King's assurances of goodwill and non-aggression, they reiterated Morocco's commitment to the «outstretched hand» policy.
