Morocco, US plan for «African Lion 2024» military exercise

The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and the US Army are planning the 20th edition of the «African Lion» military exercise, scheduled for May 20-31, 2024.

A key planning meeting took place at the FAR Southern Zone Headquarters in Agadir from January 29 to February 2.

Representatives from Morocco, the US, and around ten partner countries participated.

The exercise will occur in the regions of Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mehbes, Tata, Kénitra, Ben Guerir, and Tifnit.

This follows the US National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2024, which again did not tie military cooperation with Morocco to negotiations with the Polisario Front on Western Sahara.
