Moroccan pop star Dounia Batma was arrested on Wednesday, January 31, in Casablanca to begin serving a one-year prison sentence, validated by the Court of Cassation.

The sentence stems from her involvement in the «Hamza Mon BB» case, where she was found guilty of «participation in fraudulent access to computer data processing systems, dissemination of images and statements of others without their consent, with the aim of harming or defaming».

The Marrakech Court of Appeal initially sentenced Batma to eight months in prison in January 2021, along with a 10,000 dirham fine. This sentence was subsequently increased to one year on appeal.

Batma is the last defendant in the «Hamza Mon BB» case to begin serving their sentence. Correspondent Simo Dahir, YouTuber Soukaina Glamor, and car rental agency owner Adnane Saken all received two-year prison sentences and 10,000 dirham fines, alongside 100,000 dirhams in civil compensation.
