Following UN envoy visit, South Africa meets Polisario representative

South Africa's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Candith Mashego-Dlamini, met on Wednesday, January 31st, with Mohamed Yaslem Beissat, the Polisario representative in Pretoria.

Their discussions centered on «strengthening bilateral relations and reviewing the latest developments regarding the Western Sahara issue at both regional and international levels», as reported by the Polisario press agency.

This engagement coincided with a separate meeting in Pretoria between South Africa's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Naledi Pandor, and Staffan de Mistura, the United Nations Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara. Following her meeting with the UN envoy, Minister Pandor informed the press that de Mistura had presented proposals aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in the Sahara.
