A record-breaking 14.5 million foreign visitors flocked to Morocco in 2023, according to the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT). France led the pack with 4.88 million tourists, making up over a third of the total and ranking Morocco as their top non-European destination.
This news, reported by Le Figaro, places France ahead of Spain and the United Kingdom in terms of tourist arrivals. Marrakech, Agadir, and Tangier were the most popular cities, further highlighting Morocco's growing appeal.
Notably, these figures surpass the government's roadmap target of 13.5 million foreign visitors for 2023, exceeding it by one million. Additionally, foreign tourists saw a significant 41% increase compared to 2022, contributing to nearly half (49%) of all arrivals. The remaining 51% comprised Moroccans living abroad, with their numbers also witnessing a 27% rise year-on-year.
