Moroccan runners Abdallah Taghrafet and Souad Kanbouchia triumphed at the 11th Murcia Marathon on Sunday, amidst a field of approximately 7,000 athletes from over 60 countries participating in the marathon, half marathon, and 10-kilometer races.
Thirty-eight-year-old Taghrafet clinched victory with a time of 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 51 seconds. Kenyan Barnabas Kipyego (2:13:38) and Moroccan Bilal Mahroum (2:15:48) followed in second and third place, respectively.
In the women's category, Souad Kanbouchia dominated the race with a time of 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 4 seconds. Ecuadorian Mercedes Pila secured second place, while Spanish runner Esther Nicolás finished third.
