Spanish farmers continue their demonstrations, demanding «flexibility in the EU's agricultural policies». However, these protests have taken a turn, with some turning to disruptive and destructive actions.
On Wednesday, footage circulated widely on social media showing protesters in Jerez, Andalusia, stopping and ransacking a truck carrying Moroccan tomatoes.
In addition to this incident, farmers staged tractor demonstrations across Spain, blocking major highways in cities like Seville, Toledo, Granada, and Madrid. These actions caused significant traffic disruptions and intermittent road closures.
While initially calling for more flexible EU agricultural policies, the demonstrations have also addressed concerns about imports. Protestors are urging the EU to «impose stricter restrictions and controls on products coming from outside the European Union», particularly those perceived as undercutting domestic markets.
