House of Representatives President Rachid Talbi Alami and his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Ould Meguet jointly announced plans to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.

Their shared press release emphasizes the swift establishment of a joint parliamentary forum «integrating representatives of the executive power, businessmen, and experts from both countries». This framework, proposed in July 2022 during a visit by House of Advisors President Naam Miyara, has faced delays in implementation.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to the Arab Maghreb Union as a strategic and irreversible achievement. Talbi Alami urged Morocco and Mauritania to «forge new partnerships within emerging global groups and leverage their resources for the benefit of their people».

The announcement follows a working visit by a Moroccan parliamentary delegation to Mauritania on February 9-10.
