Casablanca authorities arrested a French-Moroccan citizen on Wednesday, February 14th, suspecting his involvement in kidnapping, torture, and murder. The alleged victim is reportedly the husband of Moroccan actress and singer Rym Fikri.
The investigation began on February 8th, following reports of the victim's abduction by individuals in a four-wheel drive vehicle. Authorities initiated a judicial investigation under the Public Prosecution's supervision, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
Police apprehended the main suspect, believed to have physically carried out the kidnapping, detention, and torture leading to the victim's death. While official statements do not disclose the suspect's name, online publication Le Desk suggests one of the suspects could be Reda Abakrim, a French-Moroccan allegedly linked to a 2007 murder in France. Le Desk further alleges Abakrim, also known as Turbo, ordered Fikri's husband's kidnapping.
Authorities claim the crime occurred inside a container at the suspect's home in Mansouria, near Mohammedia. They suspect the body was mutilated and disposed of in a nearby river. Specialized police teams are currently investigating the crime scene, while other units search the suspected disposal location with assistance from civil personnel.
Six individuals, including the main suspect, remain in custody pending further investigation by the Public Prosecution. Authorities suspect a prior dispute between the victim and the main suspect motivated the crime.
