Minister-President of the Brussels Capital Region (BCR) Rudi Vervoort and Secretary of State Ans Persoons will hold meetings with officials from the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Rabat city, and Casablanca-Settat regions.

The two senior officials will be visiting Morocco from Monday to Thursday to discuss progress and challenges in the region, highlighting opportunities for sustainable and inclusive urban and economic development, Belgian media reported on Monday.

The mission prioritizes two key export areas for the BCR: sustainable construction and e-health. Facilitating partnerships and networking opportunities for Belgian companies is a core objective. Key events include the opening of an eco-build pavilion and a visit to the écocité Zenata, a model sustainable district.

Visits to BCR-supported projects in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra showcase the region's commitment to development cooperation. These projects support the socio-economic inclusion of women and domestic workers, and empower female entrepreneurs.

Minister-President Vervoort emphasizes the strong «special bond» between Brussels and Morocco, citing the large Moroccan diaspora and growing interest in the Moroccan market. He sees potential for collaboration in construction, healthcare, and development cooperation.

Secretary of State Persoons, participating in her first development cooperation mission, highlights the importance of supporting female entrepreneurs and overseeing ongoing local projects in Rabat.

For the record, the visit further solidifies a two-decade partnership with Moroccan regions, building upon a 2001 agreement and a 2020 framework.
