Moroccan goalkeeper Bounou addresses Afcon clash with DRC captain Mbemba

Moroccan national team goalkeeper Yassine Bounou appeared on the YouTube program «Colin Terview» to discuss the heated exchange between coach Walid Regragui, players, and DR Congo captain Chancel Mbemba during the African Cup of Nations.

According to Bounou, Youssef En-Nesyri claimed Mbemba verbally abused him throughout the match, prompting «tense» post-game scenes. Bounou further stated that En-Nesyri alleged Mbemba encouraged teammates to «deliberately injure» Azzedine Onahi, all of whom play together at Olympique de Marseille.

Despite these accusations, Bounou emphasized, «Everything that was circulated about racism is just nonsense». He attributed the confrontation to a mere «misunderstanding».
