Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will arrive in Morocco on Wednesday for his third official visit since diplomatic relations were normalized in 2022, his government announced on Tuesday.
In a brief statement, the Moncloa Palace declared, «This visit, coming at the beginning of the new legislative term, confirms the strong ties that unite the two countries». The statement confirmed that Sanchez will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez.
Details regarding the visit's agenda and whether Sanchez will meet King Mohammed VI remain undisclosed. Notably, this did not happen in February 2023, during Sanchez's previous visit and second since normalization.
In March 2022, Sanchez ended a year of diplomatic tension with Morocco by expressing support for the autonomy proposal for Western Sahara.
