Moroccan international footballer Ilias Chair was sentenced, Friday, to two years in prison, including one year suspended, by the Antwerp criminal court in Belgium, L’Equipe reported.
The incident occurred in 2020 and Chair was convicted of hitting a man with a rock, fracturing his skull. The victim is still recovering and Chair will have to pay him a fine of around 15,000 euros.
Two other people involved in the altercation were also given suspended prison sentences. Chair's club, Queens Park Rangers, said they were in contact with his lawyers and would make no further comment at this time.
