The States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed the African Atlantic Initiative launched by King Mohammed VI. This project «will strengthen cooperation between the Sahel and Atlantic coast countries», said the secretary general of the Arab regional grouping, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, at a ministerial meeting with Morocco in Riyadh on Sunday, March 3rd.
Albudaiwi emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the GCC countries. He expressed the members' aspiration to further consolidate economic relations between the two parties, according to the Moroccan news agency MAP.
This support from the Gulf monarchies follows praise for the Royal Initiative from the head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, during their talks with King Mohammed VI on February 21st.
