Moroccan women granted authority over children's passport applications

Moroccan women can now obtain and renew biometric passports for their minor children without prior approval from the father, unless a court decision prevents it. This change was confirmed by announcements from two Moroccan consulates.

Morocco’s Consulate General in Spain cited a «circular sent by the Ministry of Interior» as the basis for the new policy. The Moroccan consulate general in New York echoed this decision, attributing it to efforts to «simplify administrative procedures».

In December, the Ministry of Interior announced a collaboration with other ministries to introduce an online application process for biometric passports, further streamlining the process.
