A German national wanted under an INTERPOL Red Notice, following an international arrest warrant issued by the Austrian authorities, was arrested on Sunday in Morocco for his alleged involvement in cases related to financial crime and property damage.
The 40-year-old was arrested as he was preparing to board a flight to Turkey. Moroccan authorities checked the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) database which showed that the man in question was wanted internationally for alleged fraudulent financial transactions and fraudulent operations that enabled him to obtain sums of money, reads a statement.
The suspect was taken into custody and the Austrian authorities were notified to initiate extradition proceedings.
