A new study, conducted by a group of Moroccan scientists, has investigated the immune response in people who got vaccinated against Covid-19. Findings suggest that 96% of the vaccinated community in the Casablanca-Settat region had signs of their body fighting the virus.
Published on April 3 by the scientific journal Nature, the study explains that all vaccines studied worked almost equally well, except for the Pfizer vaccine which created a stronger antibody response than the others.
The study also revealed that people who already had COVID-19 or other health conditions when vaccinated managed to have a stronger antibody response.
Older people and women also had a stronger response when receiving anti-Covid-19 vaccines, the study shows.
According to the authors of the study, this is the first of its kind in the region to assess post-vaccination seroprevalence and the humoral response generated by the four main types of vaccines implemented by the Ministry of Health in Morocco to produce IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2.
It is worth mentioning that the survey involved 10,669 participants who received various vaccines (two doses for BBIBP-CorV/Sinopharm, Covishield vaccine, and Pfizer/BioNTech, and one dose for Johnson & Johnson's Janssen COVID-19 vaccine).
The study covered 16 provinces in the Casablanca-Settat region from February to June 2022, during which comprehensive demographic and comorbidity data were collected.
