The Spanish government has reaffirmed that Morocco did not spy on Pedro Sanchez's cell phone. This clarification was made by Oscar Lopez, the 12th Moncloa Chief of Staff, when appearing before the Joint Security Committee of the House of Representatives.

He called the allegations attributing to Morocco the operation using Israeli Pegasus software a «hoax, slander and conspiracy theory», revealed by the government in May 2022.

Lopez’ statement is as the same as the findings of a report by the Spanish counter-intelligence services, which blamed the hacking on «hostile actions carried out on Spanish territory by Russia and China».

For the record, in June 2022, Spanish intelligence services concluded that Morocco did not hack the phones of Pedro Sanchez, the Ministers of Defense, Margarita Robles, and the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
