On April 13, Yabiladi.com reported, citing French magazine Paris Match, that the former manor of King Mohammed VI in the town of Gritz-Armenvilliers, in the Seine-et-Marne region of France, would be on sale for 425 million euros.

The French magazine reported at the time that the property was built in 1884 by the Rothschild family replacing the old building dating back to the seventeenth century. The same source reported that the chateau underwent a major renovation in the 1990s, thanks to then-new owner, the late King Hassan II.

A certain Ignace Meuwissen, presenting himself as the real estate agent in charge of the sale, told Paris Match that it is now the most expensive property in France. Adorned with oriental decor and Fez tiles, with no fewer than 100 rooms, it includes a hairdressing salon, three elevators, five salons, a hammam, a dental surgery practice, a pharmacy and a laboratory, as well as dining rooms, reception rooms, hunting rooms, 17 bedrooms and winter gardens.

This morning, April 16, the legal representative for SCI TOURNAN, a non-commercial real estate company, and current owner of the property, emailed Yabiladi and confirmed that the allegations are false.

The attorney said that the building «is in no way a chateau», that the sale price was not accurate, that it is «completely fictitious», and that the description of the property «contains many inaccuracies».

The same source confirmed that SCI TOURNAN did not commission Ignace Meuwissen «to sell the property and all the information» in our article was wrong.

The same source allege that PARISMATCH.COM, in its article of April 12, may have simply reprinted an advertorial created by the same individual who presents himself online as a «luxury real estate advisor to the world's elite». The company claims this act has caused «serious damage to its image and enormous economic loss».
