On Monday April 15, King Mohammed VI congratulated Rachid Talbi Alami of the RNI on his re-election as head of the House of Representatives. In his short message, published by MAP, the King reiterated his call, made a few months earlier, «for the moralization of parliamentary life» to «consolidate confidence in elected institutions».

On January 17, during the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the kingdom's first elected parliament, the King once again insisted on the moralization of the political scene. He ordered «the adoption of a code of ethics that is legally binding on both Houses of the legislative institution». Since then, Parliament has yet to deliver its draft.

King Mohammed VI gave instructions in 2018 to draw up a code of ethics for members of parliament. The text approved did not live up to the royal guidelines.

This is borne out by the large number of MPs and parliamentary councilors - more than twenty - currently on trial, either on bail or behind bars, for mismanagement of public funds, embezzlement, or drug trafficking.
