Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah expressed his disappointment at not being called up more frequently by national coach Walid Regragui. In a recent interview, Hamdallah criticized the coach's selection decisions: «Since the 2022 World Cup, I've only featured in one match, against Cape Verde. Coach Regragui substituted me right after halftime. If I wasn't a dedicated player, I wouldn't have a successful 12-year career outside Morocco».

Hamdallah questioned the coach's evaluation methods: «I've been called up for friendlies but haven't played. How can I be judged on my performance for the national team when I consistently perform well and score goals for my Saudi club Al-Ittihad?» He pointed out that «other top scorers from the Saudi League are regularly selected» for the national team.

«I haven't had much luck with the national team recently», Hamdallah concluded. «My most successful period was under coach Badou Zaki», said the 33-year-old footballer.

Abderrazak Hamdallah has a history of disagreements with coaches, both in Morocco and during his time playing in Saudi Arabia. He has publicly criticized several national team coaches, including Badou Zaki, Hervé Renard, and Vahid Halilhodžić. Last season, Walid Regragui recalled Hamdallah, but the striker saw limited playing time after failing to impress in his appearances.
