On Monday, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) launched the «Bridge Africa» Summit at its Benguerir campus. The event, an initiative of the university, brings together nearly 140 participants from 25 African countries (May 6-8, 2024) to «explore innovative solutions to the challenges of development» on the continent.
The event brings together «dynamic and committed young African leaders and talents, around three themed days: inspire, involve and act, with programming around leadership development, strategic planning workshops and community development activities», according to a UM6P press release. The event also includes a «solutions village» and an art exhibition.
The Summit is part of the university's commitment to «contribute to the development of the African continent», through a vision «based on collaboration, innovation and excellence». For UM6P, it is «an opportunity for young African leaders to meet, exchange ideas and build sustainable initiatives for a better future for Africa».
UM6P President Hicham El Habti opened the summit by stating that «the Bridge Africa programme is a multi-faceted initiative, designed to bring together young African leaders with high potential to address key themes such as science, technology, innovation, economic development and food security, with the main objective of creating an impact on the continent».
