Suardiaz, a company specializing in roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) maritime transport, has acquired the Viking Amber from Gram Carriers of Norway and renamed it «Asturias» for its Morocco-North Europe route.

Built in 2010, the vessel has a cargo capacity of 4,200 cargo equivalent units (CEUs). Suardiaz said in a statement, «With this acquisition, the Suardiaz Shipping Lines division continues its fleet renewal and emissions reduction plan with more efficient vessels and greater ability to respond to market demand».

Suardiaz has already allocated €93 million to improve the sustainability and efficiency of its fleet. The addition of the new vessel will allow for optimized service to historic customers such as Stellantis, Toyota, and Renault.

The Asturias will also be able to provide short sea freight capacity to other shipping lines with connections in the port of Zeebrugge (Belgium) or at any other point within the line's geographical range with Antwerp (Belgium), Bremerhaven (Germany), or Southampton (UK).
