For the fifth consecutive year, Morocco's Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University (USMBA) in Fez has been featured in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings, released on May 14th.
USMBA has been ranked first in Morocco for research and teaching quality among 673 universities evaluated. Internationally, the university is placed in the 351-400 range. Since its first appearance in this type of ranking, USMBA has been steadily improving its scores, reads a press release by USMBA.
This year, it obtained the maximum score of 49 for Research Quality, reflecting the importance, originality, and innovation of its researchers' publications. This indicator was 40.7 in 2023. The university has also seen a positive trend in the Teaching indicator, which has increased from 31.5 in 2023 to 35.8 in 2024.
The ranking noted USMBA's active cultural scene, including an annual Theatre Festival held since 2005. The university is also dedicated to community outreach, often hosting programs for the elderly. In 2016, it held two forums discussing energy supply in Morocco, fostering lively debate among both external experts and students.
USMBA is a participant in the international partnership program Erasmus Mundus Al-Idrisi, coordinating exchange programs with universities in Europe and North Africa.
