The 33rd ordinary Arab summit concluded on Thursday, May 16, in Manama, Bahrain. The summit's Final Declaration focused heavily on the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians.

The Arabs called for the deployment of UN international protection and peacekeeping forces in the occupied Palestinian territory until the two-state solution is implemented. The summit's call echoes proposals by both the Biden administration and the Israeli government for a peacekeeping force.

Last October, Israel's left-wing former Prime Minister, Ehud Barak (1999-2001), suggested setting up an Arab force in Gaza. Egypt, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates, all of which have established diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv, could contribute to this force in order to secure Israel's border with the Gaza Strip, he had proposed.
