Moroccan movie director Asmae El Moudir, a member of the «Un Certain Regard» jury at the 77th Cannes Film Festival (May 14-25, 2024), expressed her support for Palestine at the closing ceremony. On Saturday, the filmmaker was photographed holding a Palestinian flag sewn onto her glove.

El Moudir, known for directing the first Moroccan feature-length documentary to win the Grand Prix at the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM 2023), «The Mother Of All Lies», was herself a prizewinner at the previous edition of Cannes in the «Un Certain Regard» category.

Several celebrities at the 77th Cannes Film Festival also showed their support for Palestine, including Cate Blanchett, Bella Hadid, Kani Kusruti, Leila Bekhti, Jasmine Trinca, and Pascale Kann.

The latter group, along with Rakhee Thakrar, Ariane Labed, and Mia Tharia, also used their platform to raise awareness about the silencing of Palestinian voices.
