The Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, is making her first visit to Rabat today, May 27, since her appointment on April 5, 2024. In the Moroccan capital, Fall met with the head of the kingdom's diplomacy, Nasser Bourita. The discussions were marked by the signing of a joint communiqué.

On the Sahara issue, Senegal reiterated its «constant and firm support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Morocco over its entire territory, including the Moroccan Sahara», indicated the Department of Foreign Affairs on the X platform.

The head of Senegalese diplomacy also reaffirmed «Senegal's full support for the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco, which constitutes the only credible and realistic solution for the resolution» of the Sahara issue. She also praised «the efforts of the United Nations as the exclusive framework to achieve a realistic, practical, and lasting solution» to this conflict.

The same position was expressed by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Senegal to the UN in New York, during the regional seminar of the UN C24, held from May 14 to 16 in Caracas, Venezuela.

In contrast, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, visited Dakar on May 22, carrying a message from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his Senegalese counterpart, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Senegal opened a consulate general in Dakhla on April 5, 2021.
