A new ranking of the world's 100 most expensive footballers by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) includes only one Moroccan player, 24-year-old Brahim Diaz of Real Madrid, whose contract runs until 2027. Valued at $76.4 million, Diaz ranks 70th on the list.
Lamine Yamal, eligible for both Morocco and Spain but opting to play for Spain's national team, is ranked eighth with a market value of $140.8 million according to CIES. Notably absent is Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain, valued at $65 million by Transfermarkt, a player transfer specialist website.
England's Jude Bellingham currently sits atop the transfer market rankings following a stellar first season with Real Madrid. His price tag reaches a staggering €280 million just days before the Champions League final.
Manchester City's Erling Haaland follows closely at €255 million, edging out Real Madrid's Brazilian duo Vinicius Junior (€241 million) and Rodrygo Silva de Goes (€221 million). Bellingham's teammate Phil Foden (€204 million) also makes the top ten, alongside two Arsenal players, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard.
