The 13th edition of the Casablanca Heritage Days, held from May 13 to 19, gathered nearly 11,000 participants. Under the theme «Casablanca, Heritage in Motion», this edition was organized by the Casamémoire Association, in collaboration with the Governorate of the Casablanca-Settat Region and the City of Casablanca.
For the occasion, several museums opened their doors, while various city spaces hosted exhibitions by Casablanca artists, namely the Liberté building, the Assayag building, the Comment Dire space, the Beaux-Arts garden, and the dome of the Arab League park. Similarly, thanks to the commitment of 15 partner project leaders, visitors were able to participate in or attend conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and shows throughout the week.
During the weekend, sites and buildings usually closed to the public opened their doors: the Wilaya headquarters, the Palace of Justice, the Bank-Al Maghrib branch, the Pasha's Mahkama... Visitors had the choice between five tour circuits, exploring emblematic places of Casablanca, namely Mohamed V Square, the historic Habous district, as well as the Roches Noires, Hay Mohammedi, and Sidi Othman neighborhoods, Maarif, Riviera, CIL, Hay Hassani, and Al Hank. As every year, 200 volunteer guides were mobilized for the visit of these routes.
Furthermore, the collaboration with the Regional Academy of National Education of Casablanca Settat and the Al Jisr Association enabled nearly 4,000 students, from kindergarten to high school, to participate in school visits throughout the city. A «Heritage Passport» was offered to them to extend this exploration.
The event finally concluded with a conference on the reconstruction following the Haouz earthquake, at the Maison de l’Union.
