Fresh from his successes with Real Madrid, midfielder Brahim Diaz is gearing up for a historic achievement with the Moroccan national team. Having won the Supercup, La Liga and Champions League this season, he now aspires to win the African Ballon d'Or, a prestigious trophy on the continent. «It would be a dream to win this Ballon d'Or and other trophies with the Moroccan national team», he tells Spanish sports newspaper Marca.

With 45 appearances, 12 goals and nine assists this season, Brahim has become a serious candidate for the award, especially as he could be the first Real Madrid player to win the title, created in 1970 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The player, who recently made his debut for Morocco, is looking to contribute more significantly in upcoming matches with the Atlas Lions. He will make his debut in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Zambia.

Brahim arrives with the aura of an «absolute star», in the words of his coach Walid Regragui. He has also been featured in an Adidas advertising campaign in which he cites Karim Benzema as one of his idols.

The player hopes to help Morocco, his grandmother's country, qualify for the World Cup and compete in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon 2025), scheduled to take place in Morocco.
