Eid al-Adha: June 16 in Saudi Arabia and France

Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Sunday, June 16, in France, according to the Council of Imams (or Islamic Council) of the Grand Mosque of Paris. Two prayer ceremonies will be held at the Grand Mosque on that day: the first at 7:30 am and the second at 8:15 am.

Saudi Arabia has also confirmed the date for the celebration of Eid al-Adha. The Supreme Court has declared that the month of Dhou al-Hijja will begin on Friday, June 7, 2024, following the sighting of the crescent moon. The Day of Arafat, or Waqfat Arafat, will be observed on Saturday, June 15, 2024 and Eid al-Adha on Sunday, June 16.

The Council encourages the faithful to live the first ten blessed days of the month of Dhou al-Hijja «in prayer and sharing».

The crescent moon sighting in Morocco is expected this evening.
