Real Madrid will not allow Moroccan international Brahim Diaz to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris this summer with the Moroccan Olympic team.

The Moroccan team wanted him as one of their three overage players allowed in the Olympics, «but Real Madrid informed him that the club's decision is not to allow him to go to Paris 2024», according to the Spanish newspaper AS.

With a packed summer schedule including the European Championship and Copa America, Real Madrid has 18 players involved in those tournaments. These players will therefore join the pre-season and the start of the official season later.

Real Madrid added that they expect Brahim Diaz to be a very important player at the start of the season, starting with the UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw on August 14 against Atalanta.

Two other Spanish teams, Real Betis (Abdessamad Ezzalzouli) and Villarreal (Ilias Akhomach), have allowed their players to represent Morocco at the Olympic Games.
