Algeria's ambassador to Argentina, Lotfi Sebouai, supervised, on Tuesday, June 18, in Buenos Aires, the creation of a support network for the Polisario, composed of journalists and communicators. In a speech, the diplomat, who was accompanied by the first secretary of the chancery, described the meeting as «more important than the United Nations meetings, because we are gathered here for justice and for the freedom of peoples».
He welcomed the launch of this new support network for the Polisario a few days after the last session of the UN Decolonization Committee in New York. He also recalled that «Algeria has intensified its support for the Sahrawi people and their inalienable right to self-determination, through the organization of a referendum as soon as possible», reported the Polisario press agency.
For the record, a collective of human rights defense associations operating in seven South American countries, including Argentina, issued an indictment against the Front on April 20. «The Polisario, an armed organization, continues to act as a paramilitary group, holding captive the Sahrawi population living in inhumane conditions in camps near the Algerian city of Tindouf», denounced the group of NGOs in a resolution sanctioning the work of a meeting held in Santiago, Chile.
