The Moroccan government, led by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, did not address the deaths of Moroccan pilgrims in Saudi Arabia during its meeting on Thursday, June 20th, according to Mustapha Baitas, Minister of Relations with Parliament and Civil Society and government spokesperson. Baitas acknowledged this in response to a journalist's question.
«There are relevant authorities who will provide all the data on this matter», Baitas explained during the press briefing following the weekly government council meeting. «Honestly, I don't have any information to present to you at this time, and I wasn't aware you would be asking about this topic».
Meanwhile, an authorized source told Medias24 earlier this week that the death toll among Moroccan pilgrims during this year's Hajj pilgrimage have reached 17. Additionally, AFP reported that 1,000 pilgrims died due to a heatwave hitting Saudi Arabia.
