Mauritanians are heading to the polls on June 29 to elect a new president. The election campaign has seen an active presence from the Polisario Front. Brahim Ghali's emissary in Nouakchott has been busy meeting with various political leaders.
The Polisario envoy has held discussions with the president of the Al Karama Party, the head of the Alliance for Justice and Democracy, and the president of the Progressive and Popular Alliance. According to the Polisario press agency, «these leaders have reaffirmed their support for the Sahrawi people».
It's worth noting that Brahim Ghali's emissary has been in Nouakchott for the past three weeks, engaging with numerous party leaders. His efforts began with meetings with parties represented in Parliament, including Insaf (Equity), a party founded in 2022 by the current head of state Mohamed Cheikh Ould El Ghazouani, Mohamed Melainine Ould Eyih, and the Islamists of the National Rally for Reform and Development.
