On Wednesday, June 26, the presidency of the government majority held a meeting in Rabat, chaired by the leaders of the RNI, PAM, and Istiqlal.

The three parties, which have formed the executive since October 2021, welcomed the «positive government balance sheet» presented by Aziz Akhannouch before the two Houses of Parliament, despite the crises and constraints the government has had to face during this period, the three formations said in a press release.

The body also hailed the «cohesion» between its members and «praised the government's innovative and distinguished management, based on effective implementation of the commitments contained in the government program and rapid and positive interaction with specific challenges (e.g., global economic challenges)».

The leaders of the three parties also emphasized «the central role of local authorities, provincial councils and regional councils in enshrining the proximity approach to citizens». This comes as the Ministry of the Interior has launched the procedure to replace Said Naciri and Abdenbi Bioui, presidents of the Casablanca Prefectural Council and Oriental Regional Council respectively. The two PAM elected representatives are being prosecuted for drug trafficking.

The Rabat meeting was attended by Aziz Akhannouch and the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, on behalf of the RNI; Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, coordinator of the collegial leadership of the WFP General Secretariat, and the President of the National Council, Samir Goudar; and Nizar Baraka, Secretary General of the Istiqlal.

The meeting of the government majority body came amid reports in the Moroccan media of an «imminent» cabinet reshuffle.
