In preparation for Morocco's bid to host the 2030 World Cup, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit chaired a meeting on Wednesday, July 3rd, at the headquarters of the Casablanca-Settat region's Wilaya. This follows similar meetings held in Rabat and Fez to review the progress of infrastructure projects necessary for the tournament.
The meeting, attended by Royal Moroccan Football Federation President Fouzi Lekjaa, regional Wali Mohamed Mhidia, and various stakeholders, focused on development projects related to sports infrastructure, transportation, mobility, accommodation, connectivity, and sustainable development. An integrated management system was presented to strengthen project monitoring, supervision, and execution.

Minister Laftit emphasized the importance of mobilizing all stakeholders to accelerate project implementation and meet deadlines, aligning with the King's vision. He stressed the need for rigorous monitoring and coordinated efforts.
Discussions also addressed two key Casablanca sites: the Grand Stade in Benslimane and the Mohammed V Sports Complex. The International Broadcast Center (IBC) will be responsible for broadcasting World Cup 2030 matches.
«The Grand Stade de Casablanca is deeply rooted in Moroccan culture, with its traditions and contemporary expressions. It is rooted in ancient and primordial figures: the Moussem, the tent and the garden, as well as in Morocco's topography and landscapes (...) The Grand Stade de Casablanca is the embodiment of the great tradition of Moroccan hospitality».
The Grand Stade de Benslimane will have a capacity of 115,000 and will bear the name of the late King Hassan II. Inspired by the moussem, a traditional Moroccan social gathering, it will be housed under a large tent-shaped roof. It aims to become the world's largest soccer monument.
